The Effects of Failures in PCS Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Research and development on the survivability of networks has largely focused on public switched telecommunications networks and high-speed data networks with little attention on the survivability of wireless access networks supporting cellular and PCS communications. This paper presents the effects of failures and survivability issues in PCS networks with emphasis on the unique difficulties presented by user mobility and the wireless channel environment. A simulation model to study a variety of failure scenarios on a PCS network is described. The discreteevent simulation results show that user mobility significantly worsens network performance after even small failures, as disconnected users move among adjacent cells and attempt to reconnect to the network. Thus survivability strategies must be designed to contend with spatial as well as temporal network behavior. A multi-layer framework for the study of PCS network survivability is presented. Metrics for quantifying network survivability are identified at each layer. Possible survivability strategies and restoration techniques for each layer in the framework are also discussed.

A Multi Objective Graph Based Model for Analyzing Survivability of Vulnerable Networks
In the various fields of disaster management, choosing the best location for the Emergency Support & Supply Service Centers (ESSSCs) and the survivability of the network that provides the links between ESSSCs and their environment has a great role to be paid enough attention. This paper introduces a graph based model to measure the survivability of the linking's network. By values computed for ...

Two experimental factors (dietary treatment with or without pelleted-concentrate supplement (PCS) and sex) were investigated in crossbreed post-weaning calves to monitor their effects on performance, hematological profile, and plasma mineral concentration. Twenty-four post-weaning calves were classified according to sexually (either male or female) and randomly distributed into two dietary trea...
متن کاملEvaluating Multipath TCP Resilience against Link Failures
Standard TCP is the de facto reliable transfer protocol for the Internet. It is designed to establish a reliable connection using only a single network interface. However, standard TCP with single interfacing performs poorly due to intermittent node connectivity. This requires the re-establishment of connections as the IP addresses change. Multi-path TCP (MPTCP) has emerged to utilize multiple ...

Failures in the water distribution network are some most important factors in water losses, water shortage and dissatisfaction of users and secondary pollutions as well. This research aimed to analyze failure in water distribution networks during 2006-2008, for better water management. Daily failure reports in Ahvaz, Iran distribution network during 2006-2008, were collected from emergency depa...
